Jill Scott is being sued by her own record label. Hidden Beach Records, who claims that the Grammy-winner has reneged on her six-album deal contract and is asking for millions of dollars in damages. The suit says Scott dumped Hidden Beach after 10 years and that the label and its founder, Steve McKeever, helped launch her career. Other allegations in the complaint:

McKeever paid Scott million-dollar advances, which he was not obligated to do.
He allowed her to keep merchandising revenue.
Hidden Beach paid 450,000 to fund a concert DVD that Scott later asked not to be released.
McKeever bought her lavish gifts.
Hidden Beach arranged for her to put her recording schedule on the backburner to pursue an acting career.
There haven’t been any conter-comments by Jill or any of her reps…but you better believe they are coming!jill
