All Drake fans hoping to see him bring earn his 4th Grammy award during the show’s ceremony early next year will have to wait. For how long, that’s completely up to Drizzy.
Drake decided not to submit his most recent project, ‘More Life’, for consideration. That’s right, a platinum selling album will not be nominated for a Grammy in 2018. He also failed to submit any individual songs.
This isn’t that much of a surprise as Drake skipped last years awards ceremony despite picking up a Grammy. He won Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for hit “Hotline Bling,” but doesn’t like the fact that it was categorized as a Hip Hop record. “Even though ‘Hotline Bling’ is not a rap song, the only category they can manage to fit me in is a rap category,” the rapper said back in February, “Maybe because I’ve rapped in the past or because I’m black, I can’t figure out why. I won two awards last night, but I don’t even want them, because it just feels weird for some reason.”
Drake isn’t the only artist to change his view on the way the awards system works, Kanye West and Justin Bieber have both spoken out on the subject.
