A 19-year-old man attacked Upper Darby police officers early Monday morning after police came to his house to respond to a 911 Call. According to officials, a call was placed to police claiming a man was going to kill his family and himself. When officers entered the house a man jumped out of a closet armed with an ax and began swinging it at police. One officer was hit in the arm and fired to shots at the ax-wielding man.
The suspect, who has a history of mental illness was taken to Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
