For a minute while live streaming the Jeffrey Lurie press conference on Tuesday afternoon, I forgot all about his ties to the motion picture industry. I completely forgot that he knows first hand about acting, facial expressions and voice inflection.
I mean I really thought that based on how Eagles Owner, Jeffery Lurie started his press conference with statements such as, “This was the most disappointing season since he has been owner” or “There is no legitimate excuse for how this team performed” that he was actually going to give Andy Reid his walking papers.
Not only did he fool me, but pretty much everyone else watching the press conference. Former Eagles Defensive End and now ESPN Football Analyst, Hugh Douglas tweeted “This don’t sound good!! Spit it out fool!!” in the midst of the press conference. And then, as if the previous statements hadn’t been made, Mr. Lurie said I can’t wait to see Andy Reid coach this team next year, followed by he is the best chance for us to get to the tournament (playoffs) and compete for a championship (Super Bowl).
With those words Philadelphia Eagles Owner Jeffrey Lurie completely contradicted himself and created a stir amongst fans through out the listening audience. Many people have heard the quote “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, but expecting different results.” And that fits so well with how fans of the Eagles feel, but here is another quote that could explain how Jeffery Lurie views Insanity. “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, its time to pause and reflect.” Mark Twain
I think Jeffery Lurie may have thought about letting Coach Reid go, but saw that his logic was in line with what fans wanted and therefore it must not be sound judgment.
I’m frustrated by the words of Mr. Lurie’s press conference and how he could condemn the overall performance of this season, yet say we look forward to another shot next year.
Lets talk, because I can’t be the only Eagles fan in the city that thinks they’re going crazy over this mess. #HOT1079Sports
